Astrohenge + Old Forest + Throne @ Victoria Dalston

A Black Sabbath evening run by the Island. I have dusted off my copy of Master Of Reality and played it in the car on the way to Dalston. I used to have it on viny sometime on the '70s. I wouldn't have dreamt of playing it after 1977 of course. The bands tonight turn out to be very good and the Victoria Dalston is a pretty good venue now that it has lights.

Whilst all the bands are pretty heavy they are all more subtle than I have come to expect from Metal Bands, just as Master of Reality is actually a good album.

Tamborines + A History of Apple Pie @ Hoxton Bar & Kitchen

After last night's show I wasn't really expecting too much tonight. I saw A History of Apple Pie early last year and was convinced they were worthy of the aclaim which some were bestowing on them at the time.
I'm not not sure whether they have improved a lot or whether it was a bad night last time I saw them, but they are definitely better.
Ivory Seas turns out to be Red Drapes, or at least the two most recognisable drapes. They are OK but I was never very excited by Red Drapes so it's not surprising the new band bring out much the same reaction.

The Tamborines have a girl drummer who stands up to play. I enjoy their set which ends with a version of Sheena is a punk rocker. Very Good.
