Smatka + Danimal Kingdom @ Xoyo
Note the drumstick suspended in mid-air. The launch night for Sweet! My first visit to XOYO is a good night.
Smatka + I Blame Coco @ The Queen of Hoxton
Smatka @ The Borderline
The tube strike didn't prevent a good turnout for this single launch party. It was a bit of an inconvenience having to drive to Warren Street to get to the Borderline.
Smaka hasn't played (in London at least) for absolutely ages and it is really nice to see her again. She has a single out on Monday (available at Rough Trade, Sister Ray etc.) which is definetly worth buying. You will see that I'm still struggling a bit with colour balance on LED lights which are beginning to appear at the posher venues. I think the red is fairly accurate actually, but maybe I could have chosen a better picture. It was good to see quite a few friends at the gig.
Smatka @ Madame Jojos
What a superb, fantastic performance from Smatka, who may not have many band members but makes it bigger than life on her own.
This time, Jeremy from Mab helped her ourt on the Bass, and what a difference it made that someone as charismatic as Jeremy , alongside Smatka, 2 very strong ladies together, looking absolute charm.
They worked brilliantly together, and had a very good gathering of people coming to see them.
We saw Tracey from ex pop band User, whom we had made clothes for a few years back. She looked very fresh and enthousiastic, but asked us if we made leather clothes. We said ...eeeeuh...well....(no)
A fantastic evening, great to see all the friends again, including Neil and Voltane and everyone else who was there. Shame we cannot come t the next Smatka gig in South London...Jeremy, and possibly Jessica on drums, will be playing with her. It will be something...

Smatka @ Star & Garter - 8th Nov
Smatkas gig at the Star & Garter in Hoxton was a great gig except she had to play at 11.30 due to the first band who played very late(more details in origane's blog page) and the Johnsons played rather long too. Smatka played at 11.30 and it was too late for everybody to stick around and watch.
IT was a succulent gig and I was well drunk so took advantage of it to dance around selflessly, which is so agreable. Smatkas music is very danceable but also not danceable because she is so curious as a stage act that sometimes the dancing has to stop to watch hat actually is happening.
SHe did her favourite songs, the laptop worked very well this time and she was wearing half of the ORigane Fashion latest outfit, which looked fantastic (except the buttons are not sewn straight) Voltane was quietly headbanging to the music and PJ and Sam even more quietly, her act soaked in us as a treasure it is. Sean from Rock Band Best Wishes was there and seemed to also enjoy the show.
We managed to catch the last tube home.,
