Joana & the Wolf @ the Purple Turtle

I've see Joana and the Wolf many times, but not previously at the Purple Turtle. It's a venue that suits them with a decent stage and lights. There are another couple of photographers I know here tonight, and Maxfield are playing later. 2 years ago I photographed Maxfield quite a lot. They are a good band but right at the edge of my taste. I recognise a lot of songs; but I'm not sure that I recognise many of the band apart from Valerie herself. Overall it is a very pleasant evening and I think some of the hundreds of pictures will be good.

Maxfield @ Cargo Feb 10th

This was our first visit to Cargo. A rather odd evening as the headline band are famous in Slovakia or the Czech Republic (or maybe both). This meant the venue in Hoxton was full of Czechs and Slovaks, and when I say full, I mean packed. The crowd was enthusiastic when Maxfield played, and their set was full of energy, which went down extremely well with themultitude. Fortunately Valerie's voice survived the set.

We arrived at 6 for the Plakka soundcheck.

After Dinner ina Brazilian restaurant in Upper Street we were back to see all 8 bands (although we did miss the beginning of Reality Cheques).

An excellent evening of entertaining bands promoted by Club MGriff.

With Maxfield, Mama Shamone and of course Plakka, being outstanding. We shall see them all again.
