Vuvuvultures + Zoetrope @ Hoxton Bar & Kitchen
Probably one of my best gigs of the year . It is always exciting when two of my favourite bands play together at a good venue. Not only are Zoetrope and Vuvuvultures bands with loads of potential, but they are both photogenic and good friends.
Starting the evening was a solo set from Samuel of La Shark. I have seen La Shark twice this year; at the first Samuel was walking on his hands during the set and at the second he was hanging from the ceiling of Madame Jojos. He is a little more subdued but it's an enjoyable solo set with some humour in the songs.
Zoetrope are a bit under the weather, Amy and Zoe both have forms of lurgy. Zoe told me this affected her performance and she was quite subdued. I think even people who have seen them before would not have noticed anything. Zoe's 'subdued' performance is still more violent than the average drummer.
This is Vuvuvultures EP launch party and they are definitely up to party. They play a set so good that the promoter has re-booked them before they have left the stage. Check out their EP which can be downloaded in exchange for a tweet for the next week.
