Fresh Legs @ Nambucca

I've studied the website (myspace) of the promoter and those of the bands appearing. At the end of it I am still not clear on the order of play. Arriving at 8.30 I find that I have missed the first band, who I had hoped to have a listen to. Fresh Legs are next on; this is a bit of a surprise, but I think they have travelled by train and may need to rush off to get home. So I missed Kids Love Lies. I order a Guiness, but there is none. A can of Guiness is offered at £2, which is not brilliant but a fairer price than most places. I'm feeling a bit grumpy by now.

But Behold! the Nambucca has been refitted again, and has a nice stage with decent lights. My mood lifts. Fresh Legs do an excellent set. Its all abit of a whirlwind but I think I should have some good pictures (or maybe I'll have some good pictures because its a whirlwind).

So my timing has been so impecable that only 40 minutes after I arrived Fresh Legs have finished and I could go home. Whilst that has its attractions, I decide to have another can and glance at the other bands. The Patty Winters Band are enjoyable, the main band of the evening are less interesting but seem quite popular with the girls.

Fresh Legs @ Lennons, Southampton

In my awards for 2007 I chose Fresh Legs for the "Best Band I saw but didn't photograph" award. I recently listened to them on myspace after seeing them on the same bill as Little Fish in Southampton. I have found their songs to be very catchy and thought it would be fun to try and capture their manic performance. Apart from a rather foggy drive, the evening turned out splendidly. Lennons is the sort of sweaty 'dive', so sadly lacking in London these days. There were 4 bands on and I arrived during the first. I didn't take any pics as I was enjoying a quick drink, and it wasn't easy to get to the front.

I did take a few of "Official Secrets Act" who I also saw in London at the Trepan Records show last week. I enjoyed their show and will check out their myspace.

Fresh Legs don't seem entirely relaxed. I think they have some issues with the sound (the drummer can't hear anything in his monitor). I'm not sure whether Ella may have been unwell, she grimaced alot, but she also flayed around like a dervish.

[they have since 'apologised' for having had too much to drink]

I thought the show well worth the trip, and the good old fashioned lights have made for some exciting pics.
