Really Impressive set from Bleech. I'm feeling a bit tired and the lights aren't as good as the soundcheck (this picture is from the soundcheck).

Anna Calvi + Bleech + European Lust @ Punk

These bands are featured in Issue 2 of ‘Fashion Style Music’ and tonight is a launch party for the issue. Apparently the magazine can be obtained under the counter somewhere in Camden. It is not available in Borders in Oxford Street where I tried to buy it. It’s difficult to see how they can afford to produce it if it’s so difficult to buy. Whatever their commercial credentials, they do seem to have some musical taste; they have chosen Ana Calvi and Bleech who both perform top sets to good audience reaction. The third band tonight are called ‘European Lust’. I thought the might be French, but research reveals them to be Spanish. Their best songs remind me of the Libertines. I’m not sure whether they are very good or very bad; I am sure they are not mediocre. Their Myspace doesn’t really help. They have one really good song but some others seem less definite one way or another. It’s very uncommon for me to be undecided (about a band), maybe that makes them special anyway. It’s been an excellent evening , the lights are slightly better than last time I was here, but broadly useless.

Bleech + No Cars @ Tommy Flynns

This is 'Beware the Moon', promoted by the Rock 'n' Roll Cabaret people. Recently they posted a bulletin on Myspace asking for bands to apply for gigs. As I think they are good promoters, I forwarded the bulletin to a couple of bands I know who I'd like to see play more often. One of the was No Cars and here they are. We miss the first couple of songs, but what we see is good. They get a good reception from the uncommited customers, who dance and clap. Ben, the promoter seems to like them too and I think they are likely to be on the bill for a Rock and Roll Cabaret at the Dublin Castle.
Bleech are nicely warmed up after their earlier gig. Playing 4 or 5 nights a week isn't enough for them anymore, now they have started playing twice in a night. The lights are slightly odd colours, but generally quite good.

Bleech @ The Word's End

I have decided to see No Cars at 8pm at Tommy Flynns, so it is quite convienient to pop into the World's End to catch up with Bleech. They are as good as ever, but I have to rush off to get something to eat before the second gig. We find a turkish restaurant near Koko. From the front it looks very smart, but round the back it is more like a traditional turkish kebab house. It's still upmarket, but rather a clever set up. We enjoy a meze which is similar whether Turkish, Greek or Lebonese (except for the names). Very good and service is quick as well, so it's very suitable for a quick meal before a gig in Camden.

Bleech + Magna Saga @ the Purple Turtle

There are so many bands on tonight that I have more listed than the London Paper, but no-one who is absolutely essential viewing. At the last minute Bleech and Magna Saga announce a gig at the Purple Turtle. I haven't photographed Bleech at a venue with decent lights for a while, and I have offered to photograph Magna Saga sometime. When Magna Saga offer to put me on the guestlist that seals the deal. Bleech are indeed well lit. The lighting for Magna Saga is slightly more questionable, but overall it's a very good evening. Tomorrow I shall not go to the Purple Turtle.
