The Ropes @ the Bullet Bar

The Ropes are on a UK tour. I noticed them a down to play at BAG, because I thought the BAG promoter had good taste (although her venue wasn't great). Originally the Ropes were booked to play tonight at the Bullet Bar, tomorrow at the Old Blue Last and Wednesday at the BAG and then Glasgow, Unfortunately Tuesday and Wednesday have cancelled. Monday night at the Bullet Bar is pretty dependent on the band to bring people. Unfortunately the Ropes are from New York and haven't been here to develop many fans in London, never mind Kentish Town. Main support are King Furnace from Oxford, and although they recently featured on the cover of Nightshift, their success in Oxford does not seem to have developed much of a fanbase in London yet.
I'm not sure, but I think I am the only member of the audience that neither of the bands don't already know. (although it turns out that I have met at least one member of King Furnace at a Little Fish gig in Oxford). As the sole stranger I end the evening with a free cd from King Furnace and a free T-shirt from the Ropes. Both bands are worth seeing and generous people.
