O.Children @ The Lexington
O.children are rather low on the bill and most of the crowd have presumably come to see the 2 bands after them. The crowd seem rather old to me (obviously not as old as me) The lights are good and whether they have come to see O.children or not, the crowd gives them a good reception.
Like King of Conspiracy last night, the band recognise me and thank me for pics from previous gigs. Is it a trait of bands without girls in that they wait to thank you in person rather than sending you a quick note or comment on myspace? It's always nice if the band like the pictures anyway, however they express it.
The bouncer remembers me from Friday and is friendly. A japanese girl asks me if I remember her. I think she might be the singer out of Hanjiro who I saw at the crosskings last autumn and did virtually the whole set singing through her hair. On the other hand she could could be a friend of some band.... It turns out that she is the singer although she is not so distinctively dressed as when she was performing.
The next band all have full beards, except the drummer who is female. I think I have a prejudice against bands with beards. I expect them to be wearing slippers and producing cheery rendations of folky songs. Whilst neither was quite true in this case I can't imagine doing a photo which makes a man with a beard look like an exciting rock star; certainly not a cool rock star ready to be tipped as the next big thing. I think beards appeal to women who are 30something and interested in slippers; this may explain the age of the crowd. O.Children do not wear slippers and are already being tipped as the next big thing.

Ha, what's wrong with sleepers! I came back from France today having left my boots at the farm(...) and worn my Primark sleepers all the way back to London and on the bus and all and I don't even have a beard! And nobody seemed to notice, which was a bit of a shame.
Lovely to read about the rest! Made me smile plenty!
