Hanjiro @ Hoxton Bar & Kitchen

Anna Calvi was on early at Notting Hill Arts Club. I fully intended to go down there, but somehow during the football on Sky I got confused between the gig being at 7.30 and me leaving at 7.30. A sort of personal hour change. I realised my confusion too late. This is hugely annoying, but I take it as a sign that I should go to Hanjiro at the Hoxton Bar and Kitchen. They are playing at 9.00 which is a convenient time. They have a good crowd. The lights are not bad, but the stage is rather high; it’s difficult to avoid the keyboard in the photos. Last time I saw Hanjiro it was at Barden’s Boudoir and I was particularly pleased with the photos, so tonight is bound to be an anti-climax. It’s a good performance and I think I got some decent photos. After another drink and checking my e-mail (for they have free wi-fi) I’m on my way before 10.30 and all set for an early night.
