The Art of Gaman @ Theatre503

I rarely go to the theatre, and I rarely go to Battersea. But Tomoko (of No Cars) was appearing in this play and I thought that it was about time I went to the theatre again (although I wasn't so sure about Battersea). The theatre is above a pub but having been to the theatre above the Hope & Anchor in Islington, I was surprised how big Theatre 503 is, I think it must have a capacity of around 50. The pub downstairs was serving Harvey's Sussex Ale and Timothy Taylor's Landlord Bitter which were both excellent ( I had one on arrival and took the other into the play as cold drinks were permitted in the theatre.)
I am even less qualified to offer any critique of a play than I am to offer a critique of the bands I see, but I know what I like (on both counts). So, I found the play absorbing and fast moving with excellent performances from all the cast. It always amazes me how well a production like this can be so immersive with simple sets and costumes. It contained quite a lot of humerous moments but overall the story was poignant and intelligent;  I would certainly recommend it as a good night out (and also the beer downstairs)
