The return of Green Drummers!
We never guessed that this church performance, organised by Rockfort, for the charity of Resonnance FM, was going to be that grandiose. What a church! What a soundsystem What lights! It seemed unusual that such a church (supposingly the Church of England) would tolerate artists who are not religious themselves, to enter and perform freely .
Green Drummers had , before hand, made sure the songs lyrics sheets did no contain swear words, (by putting red dots on top of them, unfortunately a couple slipped out, as we were concentrating for them not to slip out) and unfortunately made a new song about Drummers which insisted that God, God, God forgot the drummer.
Anyhow,we were not chucked out of the church, and we are still surprised to not have had complaints about the contents of the songs (we proudly remind our audience that we did actually read and pronounce words, during this gig, rather than muttering undescribable chatter)
The audience was hot, oh so very hot, and responded in a very friendly way to the performance, listening to the songs (it is good to be in a church, people tend to be more quiet)The usual and loved Voltane, Swan, Keith,Bob and the PLakka were about, as well as Frank, who came all the way from... Chester. And our special in house photographer whom it was a pleasure to be photographed by, again.
The set list was Frere Jacques,Jargon de la France,Victoria Crescent,La Vie en Ose, Sweet Bastard(which was not announced due to the rude tittle) then followed by 2 new songs, 'I wanite but I dont wanite' and 'serenade to the Drummers' the latter was a pure improvisation but the one before had been rehearsed and found 5 minutes before setting off for the gig.
The organisors, Ludovic and David from the Radio hshow Rockfort were very efficient, they made sure there was enough light on the keyboard so the lyrics could be read easily, and their whole team was very friendly and lovely.
We have not much to say about the other bands except the first band was delightful, a young French lady on the piano with a guitarist (she is called MAdemoiselle),what a voice...Pure and beautiful likea child. (she is to the right of this photograph ) and then a not least delightful solo artist called Vanessa (in the middle, on this photo) who also played with a bongo player.
The next bands were good but we did not stay till the end for Barbara and Nicolas the Politician, but very much enjoyed the evening.
Oh it was such an honnour to be able to sing our sinful songs in a church...Thought the Tramp and the Tranny did not fit the occasion, with all the 'wanking'going on in it, nor did baba the Bearz with his ants liking his private parts and fucking bees with their darts. A bit too rude for a church. Plus, we had, once again, forgotten the lyrics...And could not find them!
Thank you, Rockfort, for this unforgettable evening.

Green Drummers at the Klinker II
A real green drummers gig rehearsed the same day(as usual, sigh) with Matteo as Doctor Sick, playing PT30 and Green Drummers wearing the same period dress as the Squatt gig, but without the original crinoline which had been eaten by rats, so the dress could not be as wide unfortunately.
The set list started with Jargon de la france which was played with not much enthousiasm(Don't know the words!) followed by Not in Love, the never ever finished song(maybe the story inside the song has not been sorted with the people concerned) and Frere Jacques, a new song from a french Comtine was played, to the amazement of Swan. Included varied bits of people with their traits and people they wished to marry, like Brenda.
The PT30 set with Doctor Sick included a new song, la ve en Ose, covered from edith piaff.
Many people turned up and even Pablo Paolo who brought us some nice vinegar to drink , from Italy. It was a great gig and a very confident Green Drummers felt the stage had become her home... It does a lot of good to do 3 gigs in a week...Now we need 3 days to recuperate... Thanks to Sean to come all the way from Australia to see us.
ANd to everyone else who turned up! We love you all! (well, I do, I havent asked Aria guitar who in fact played a new song if she loved you too but I can hear her shouting that she does, so take her love as well)
We love you (them) all! DOGWELL!
Green Drummers in Disguise @ The Klinker
a gig on the day of Halloween at the klinker done by Green Drummers in disguise(it wasnt them really) with a brand new dress and two new musicians who joined them for a the beginning of their set when they were playing the I hate Country Music song.
Green drummers entered playing violin (if i can remember then the harmonica, played by Sean from Australian Rock Band Best Wishes and the violin played by Brenda (ah yes, green drummers were doing accoustic guitar by that point mixed with a little plastic flute bought for £1.50 at Harrow s pound store.
Then the country song stopped and the minidisk came on, doing for 2o minutes a mess of noise and swear words, extasy noises mixed with orgasms, more swearing and some bits of the Ding Dong song and other Green drummers bits found on the computer.
For the first time Green Drummers lead singer rolled on the floor and showed her boots to the marvelled audience who was asking for more (or maybe not)
We had to rush off to plakka's rehearsal so could not unfortunately watch Dylan Lynda beast with Hugh dressed up as lovely ladies playing violin. Ah we forgot to menntion Dylans intervention as greeen drummers violin got slightly dammage, the so called Lynda Beast took the violin appart and hung it in a protesting way. Maybe he had enough of the Green drummers in disguise set. Anyway Hugh liked the swear words so we may do it again some time.

Green Drummers at the Klinker, number ...7?
Present to this extreme gig, as Origane Fashion I only regret Green Drummers did not have time to make a new dress. But what an evening...
It all started in a car, after 2 days rehearsal and no dress making, Green Drummers were in fact for the first time relaxed and ready to make a good performance.
They arrived in Highbury and Islington where they were supposed to meet various people at the station to give them a lift to the "off the beaten track Klinker" . Waiting for them, they decided to go for a quick eat in Pasta Italian restaurant in front of the Garage, and the main lead singer, after declaring to the waitress she didn't like pasta even though it was the fastest dish to make, and got given some odd looks, settled for some soups and spaguettis . Wildblanket enjoyed the meal as well as Green Drummers and all that whilst Wildblanket was playing Seek and Hide with Voltane who was waiting for them at the opposite bus sotp, who eventually found them, as well as Swan , a newly recruited Green Drummers fan. They all scarpered to the car without paying the bill and it was the race back to the Klinker .
Arrival in great pumps at the Klinker, nobody there yet..... Except O surprise, Memo from Susan Acid (to be continued) and 2 friends of his (including a charming French man whose name I have forgotten 3 times) were at the bar having a drink. Matteo arrived soon after, with Jeremy from Mab and Marina, Lisa, Natanya, Stephano, and another friend of theirs.
The lead singer from Plakka was present, Bobby, and John from Mad Eel was there (fortunately as Stewart's spoons couldn't make it) and they were all eager. Unaware ofhis presence, the lead keyboaordist of Subdivine (and guitar) was in fact there and didn't quite make it tosay he was there(one given for one taken back ;-) fair on you!) heheheeeee
Oh sorry I am getting lost in personnal matter there.
The gig started with the Mab's cover of Astrophel ,continued by the beginning of Candy Man readapted, followed by Leave Me, especially played for Swan (and the mop) and Grace Jones' "pars" with percussions from avictimised computer keyboard and hammer handle.
The set continued with the Tranny and the Tramp, followed by the Xmas Hymn (played for Best Wishes) and a beautiful present was given by Jeremy, which appeared to be some spoons, to be put straight in teh loft. But they proved beeing usefulin the next song.
The Xmas hymn was animated and people sang along, having beein given teh lyric sheet(Green Drummers had to steal Marina's one due to not having one themselves and the songs changing all the time)
Baba the Bearz Goes to Holliwood was next, and everyone joined in with their distributed spoons tapping away on the reggae rhythme of this ex Mad Eel song. At that point, the keyboard being destroyed and stamped onto (reminded us of the Mobile phone back in July's gig)there seemed to ne no hope for anymore music but Hugh who was enjoying himself grandly, suggested Green Drummers did anencore, and in teh general confusion and tapping of the spoons, the song "Not in Love with Hugh" opened its darkest secrets about teh real reason for the song being written and who it was really about and what they were up to. Ah, love and adoration...
The set finished in much noise and clappping and Green Drummers was followed by Dylan and his band playing various intruments.
Hugh eventually showed one ofhis marvelous videos acompanied with his famousdiscordant guitar and Matt from MAd Eel on the electrifiedpiano. Beautiful last film about pigeons feeing their young and cows looking at each other with toenails.
No more madness!

Special REVIEW FROM BK13!!! First review to not be WildBlaket on Wildblanket's blog!!!
On a lone adventure BK13 stepped out on a dry Tuesday nite. Heading towards Dalston stopping off at The Sussex to hear the sounds of The Green Drummers.
This has been the second chance for me to hear Green Drummers, again another eerie and awe inspiring blend of performance art, dressmaking and beat box pop. Tonite I was told Green Drummers had not been able to make a new dress for the performance as she had been too busy rehearsing for 2 whole days.
The dress was of course a fantastic creationby Origane Fashions and so happily stood up to another round of voyuerism without fear of retribution.
For tonites set we had 2 cover versions, onefrom a song byM.A.B (personal vfavourites of Green Drummers) and another from Grace Jones. Performed with enough distance to become realised Green Drummer arangements.
There was plenty of interaction with the crowd, we had Carol Sheets for the 'Ding Dong' song, and an orchestra of wooden spoons performed by the audience to the last 2 tracks.
I kept my wooden spoon, and got it signed, plus I managed to salvage a 'Ctrl' key, from a computer keyboard that was destroyed with a claw hammer during the performance.
Also in the performanc there was some mopping of floors and a symbolic candle was lit (to a song about a missing boyfriend I think?)
The singer looked beautiful and petite, and sang in a Gallic Angelic tone.
The Green Drummers performed at Klinker at The Sussex.

Greendrummers @ Klinker South
Our first visit to the Klinker South in Nunhead. We arrived a little early to find a deserted pub (apart from two regulars giving the hostelry "atmosphere" by chain smoking). Unfortunately there had been a run on Cheese and Onion crisps (sold out) and there was no decent beer (no demand ?). Not entirely welcoming , very "Fistful of Traveller's Cheques"; Things soon warmed up. The main band for the evening (Plakka) arrived in a flurry of bits of drum kit - unfortunately not all the bits they needed - no snare drum or pedal.
The start of the evening's entertainment was delayed by some ritual which involved several people taking it in turns to hit a box on the wall with a stick (some sort of noise limiter that was turning off the PA). Fortunately Greendrummers have experienced pa problems before, so had come equipped with a suitable monitor.
So the show began.... Dressed
Plakka overcame a number of technical problems to deliver a fine show.

Greendrummers @ the Klinker
Another exciting night at the klinker. Greendrummers performed a varied set in front of an appreciative audience.N-A
Oh yes, an exciting gig for the Green Drummers, the best so far due to the extensive turn out of fans coming from all over London, some as far as Wembley or Crouch End . Thank you to all the persons who came all this way to see us.
The gig included band members Korg Triton, Casio PT30, and special appearance from Aria Guitar . coming from great demand for the famous song "Love Them All" to be played. New band member who really didn't want to be there is the Dancing Shoe Box which very usefully, worked as a stool for the Microphone Stand. See, all this work at college IS NOT useless.
The gig started with a very frenetic "Sweet Bastard" song about the ressemblance between men and chocolate, followed by the "love them All" song which I must say was slightly hurried due to the lack of interest from that band which song is about, "This morning" followed, easy pop song about feelings, then "Liberated Woman", very emotionnal dark song about death . To cheer up the audience, the brand new song "the Tramp and the Tranny" followed, a fairy tail about love between a tranny froggy prince and a Princess-No-Credit. Very rude and should not be heard by anyone under 16 or Hugh. For fear of high excitement.
"not in Love " finished the set, very old song about an obsession about a famous front man from a heavy metal band.
The audience was so enthousiastic and Green Drummers didn't have time to rehearse an Encore but did an interesting improvisation on main piano, extroverting devils of graves, emotions and extroversion which will always stay in unless it comes out at the Klinker. Videos to folllow soon on Greendrummers.com . Great audience. Great gig. But will they do another one ?
Green Drummers lead singer was wearing: see through electric ball gown, with see through corset and colourful fabric hidding the main bits. All sewn by Origane-Fashion of Course.

Greendrummers to play the Klinker
How exciting - the Greendrummers are playing the Klinker on Tues 31st Jan
